BOKU-Uncarved Human is a collaboration by Butoh artist Gadu and composer Michael Flora. BOKU means "I" in Japanese. It also means "one who serves others" Set in sound scape by Michael Flora, this show is a movement mediation on "I"-dentity as an egoless uncarved human.

Gadu has been a dancer/choreographer in the Twin Cities for over 20 years. He has been practicin Butoh since 2005 and he is a Certified Subbody Butoh Instructor by Subbody Butoh Foundation. He has been teaching and performing Butoh naionally and internationall. Gadu is also a Spring Forest Qigong healer and instructor. He lives in Minneapolis with his husband.

Micahel Masaru Flora
is a Minneapolis based sound artist. Flora studied media arts at San Francisco State University and gradiated with a BA in 2006. In 2010, he travled to India where he studied Hindustani classical music with Pandit Shivnath Mishra. Flora has exhibited installation work at Stanford Unoversity, Tuck Under Projects, Franconia un the City of Casket Arts, and in the Grain Belt Keg House building. He has performed at St Cloud State University, the Cedar Cultural Center, Pillsbury Theatre, Gamut Gallery, The White Page, and many other regional and national galleries, clubs, theaters, warehouses, and DIY spaces. Recorded work has appreaed on Ripples Recordings, Sympathy Limited, and his own Nada imprint. Currently, Michael is continuing his sound studies as an autodidact while developing new compositions for recording.
